a church from San Francisco (Cornerstone Evangelical Baptist Church) that
comes to Vancouver each year to minister to the community in the Downtown
Eastside area. One of the ways they connect with people in the community is
by hosting softball games throughout the week and then a tournament on
Saturday/Sunday.
One of the issues they have in their outreach is that they make relationships
with people in the area but then go back to San Francisco. It has been their
hope to partner with a church in the area so that the relationships that are
made during their week here can continue throughout the year.
If you are interested in partnering with Cornerstone in this Kingdom work, it
would be great to have you come out.
Everyone is welcome, no matter what skill level. There is no cost!
And if you don't want to play softball you're still welcome to come and just
hangout/watch.
The exhibition games are on 6/19, 6/20, 6/21, 6/22, 6/23, 6/24 - they
generally start at 6pm, and 7:30pm.
The group organizing the event will gather at the field around 4pm, just to
allow people to get in some light practice and allow the people in the
community to come join us as well.
All games will be played at Strathcona Park (map).
The tournament is on June 25-26 (Saturday-Sunday)- I don't have information
on the exact times yet.
** The organizing church from San Francisco asked if we'd like to scrimmage
them this Sunday night (7pm) at Strathcona Park. They wanted it to be a time
for people to connect and get to know each other. Please let me know if
you're interested so I can let them know if we have enough players to play.
