隨著人口的成長，全球暖化日益嚴重及能源逐漸短缺，世界各國均將「節能減碳」及提升能源使用效率，並列為重要的施政措施。本研究擬探討綠建築、節能燈具及太陽能面板等裝置，並以中央研究院文物陳列管為研究對象，針對燈具的改善效益及安裝太陽能板的可行性評估。
本研究將照明設備「T8型螢光燈管」汰換成「T5型螢光燈管」，每年約可減少50多安培的耗電量，相對地電費也將減少。
以研究對象的環境及需求評估，安裝CIGS(銅銦鎵硒)薄膜太陽能板的轉換功率最佳，容量30KWP的面板設置費用需新台幣200萬元，以平均每日發電量120度計算，每年將可節省電費支出新台幣31萬元，換算七年後可以回收安裝費用。
