“Be it …”是屬於文法裡所謂的”formulaic subjunctive (定型假設語氣)，多用於表達一種期望或命令，像是”God bless you.”表達出來的語氣.．
英語裡此種固定型假設語氣用法有幾個常用的：
•be that as it may 既來之則安之
•if need be 若真有需要
•truth be told 實話來說吧
•God bless [you | her | him | them | us every one] 天佑閣下
•come what may 不論如何
•[God | Heaven] forbid ! 老天不允
•God save [the alpacas | the Queen | the King | our merry band] 老天
•suffice it to say 這樣說足矣
不少人就將以上的固定假設語氣以成語視之，像是劍橋字典線上版這樣條列解釋suffice it to say的：
suffice (it) to say-- it is enough to say:
Suffice (it) to say, Mike won't be going to Tina's birthday party after what he said about her to her boss.　
英語網站例句：
