To be honest, foreigners' knowledge of Taiwanese-chinese relation can be
as good as Taiwanese's knowledge of football rules.
This is not very surprising. Many people here probably don't know the
relation between England, Walse and Scotland.
Even some may understand those, how about Northern Ireland and Ireland?
And even some may understand them all, how about Channel Island, Gibraltar?
They are not very difficult questions, the reasons of not understanding
are just most of the people haven't got chances or don't want to bother them.
This is quite usual. You know less of EU, but you know more about Asia-Pacific
Ocean. Very fair.
However, Taiwan is actually in a difficult situation, although Taiwan deserves
more sovereign than Scotland and Walse. The difficulty is from China's threat.
I believe the Taiwanese government can do much more than current weak manners.
At least, they should go to knock EU's door, speak to them:
'Can we talk about short-stay visitor visa free policy?'
Show them the evidences Taiwanese will obey the laws;
show them the truth that Taiwan is more democratic than Hong Kong;
show them the power of Taiwanese purchase;
show them the quality of regular Taiwanese citizen; but,
they can still show them Taiwan also have rubbish, this is not strange; but
do not show them the Taiwanese TV football commentators....
Once more people can go to visit EU freely, we will bring more opportunities
of understanding one another. This is absolutely good for EU, and so does
Taiwan.
